Richard Bakewell is an award-winning director, producer, and director of photography who has built a distinguished career creating compelling films, television, and branded content. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago (Class of 2001), Richard founded Lightforce Pictures in 2004, launching a production company dedicated to delivering visually striking and emotionally engaging storytelling.
Over the past 22 years, Richard has directed and produced commercials, branded content, narrative films, documentaries, corporate productions, and music videos. Together with his production team, he has earned more than 126 industry awards, recognizing excellence in film-making and television production.
Richard is a proud member of the PRODUCERS GUILD, IATSE, DSC, IDA, & THE TELEVISION ACADEMY and currently producing THE MAN BEHIND THE MOVIES and co-producing AS FAR BACK AS I CAN REMEMBER, LIFE AFTER THE GOONIES and LIFE AFTER GREASE.
Among his recent credits is the acclaimed documentary LINDA PERRY: LET IT DIE HERE, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and the critically acclaimed 1980s-inspired psychological sci-fi thriller ROSWELL DELIRIUM. The film has garnered an impressive 103 awards on the international festival circuit and is now streaming on APPLE TV and AMAZON PRIME.
Richard is currently developing his next feature film, Birds of Prey, with production slated to begin in 2027.
